Disillusioned writer Tom Langdon is forced to go by train across the United States to Los Angeles, and he is determined to document his journey. He meets a diverse cast of individuals along the way. While all of the passengers on the Christmas train appear to be traveling in the same direction, Tom has no idea that the tough engines that are transporting him across America will instead take him directly into his heart.
