Sylvia Lambert, the wife of Terry Lambert's boss, is having an affair with him. Sylvia observes a man assault a young woman, Denise, on the road below Terry's flat one night. She refuses to speak about her relationship with Terry for fear of being exposed. As an alternative, Terry moves forward to assist in the capture of the offender. Despite this, the cops begin to question his motives when he lies about seeing the suspect.
