Macon Leary, a travel writer, appears to be sleepwalking through life after the death of his son. Macon's wife appears to be having problems as well, and believes that the two should split up. Macon meets a strange outgoing woman after the breakup who seems to bring him back down to earth. Macon's wife appears to believe that their marriage is still worth a shot after starting a relationship with the outgoing woman. Macon is then forced to make a slew of choices.
