Juan Garcia is a young man on the verge of becoming a man who lives in a gang-controlled area. His role models couldn't be more dissimilar: his older sister Angie, a single mother attempting to break into the white corporate world, and his uncle Manny, an ex-gang member who has turned to acting as gang bangers since his release from prison. With the future in front of him, Juan, like the majority of boys, is preoccupied with girls and uninformed of the justice system's strict position against gang affiliation.
