Waitress Annie has divorced Glenn, her alcoholic husband who is on the verge of committing suicide. Despite the fact that Glenn has converted to evangelical Christianity, Annie is concerned about his irregular attempts to re-enter Annie's life. After school, high school student Arthur works at Annie's restaurant, where he becomes closer to Lila, a new youngster in town. When Glenn and Annie's daughter goes missing, the entire community joins in the search for her, as Glenn's mental state continues to deteriorate.
