John Matthews, the owner of a construction company, finds that his estranged son, Jason, has been arrested for drug trafficking. Jason has nothing to offer for mercy in good conscience as he faces an unjust jail sentence for a first-time offender as a result of mandatory minimum sentence rules. Desperately, John persuades the DEA and the opportunistic DA Joanne Keeghan to let him go undercover to assist in making arrests large enough to rescue his son in exchange. John enters the narcotics underground with the unintentional assistance of an ex-con employee, where every step could be his last in an operation that will require all of his resources, brains, and courage to survive.
