George Kimball, a hypochondriac who visits his doctor on a regular basis, makes the mistake of mistaking the illness of a dying man for his own and feels he has just two weeks to live. For the sake of his wife Judy, he keeps the news from her and goes on a search for someone else to marry her. When he finally does inform her, she immediately discovers that he is not dying at all (despite he claims to be), and she concludes that it is merely a flimsy excuse to conceal an affair, leading her to decide to divorce him.
