Samurai III: Duel at Ganryu Island

Takezo, a humble and simple man, decides to give up his life as a knight errant. The Shogun, Japan's most powerful clan head, seeks him out as a teacher and subordinate. Additionally, he is challenged to battle by Sasaki Kojiro, who is incredibly confident and skilled. Takezo agrees to face Kojiro in a year's time but declines the Shogun's patronage, preferring to reside on the outskirts of a village and cultivate vegetables. He is followed there by Otsu and, subsequently, Akemi, both of whom are head over heels in love with him. Takezo concludes the year by assisting the villagers in their fight against a band of brigands. He asks for Otsu's pardon and accepts her love before crossing the water to Ganryu Island for his final competition.
