The barrio is fatherless Hispanic or Latino When he's not working, Rico is a menial car mechanic who revels in the nights, when he dances and meets beautiful dancers, confident that he will be crowned Salsa King at the posh nightclub La Luna's forthcoming competition. In order to have more time with Margarita's flirty classmate Lola, he urges his closest friend, the polite gentleman Ken, to date his sister Margarita. Luna's interest in Rico as a dancing partner affects Rico's on-off relationship with Vicki, the reigning salsa queen. Margarita and Ken become inseparable, and Ken's jealousy grows.
