When Pioneer is set in the early 1980s, at the start of what is now known as the Norwegian Oil Boom, it takes place. Massive oil and gas deposits have been found in the North Sea. The government wants to bring the oil ashore through a pipeline from a depth of 500 meters to the surface. Petter is a professional diver who is obsessed with getting to the bottom of the Norwegian Sea. He has the discipline, strength, and courage to do the most dangerous thing in the world. But then there was a tragic accident that made everything different in a split second. Patty: I was sent on a dangerous trip, and I lost track of who was pulling the strings.
