In this German farce about a cab driver assigned to escort a "comrade" back to the East German side of the Berlin Wall, Herbie Melbourne plays a hapless schlemiel caught between the Devil and the deep blue sea. The KGB and East German Intelligence ask Herbie the cabbie to assist them find the killer of the man in the backseat. After crossing the border into West Germany, Herbie is recruited by the CIA and West German intelligence to work as a counterspy for double the other side's salary. Herbie seeks treatment from a therapist because he has no other options. She pulls out a little bottle from her bag of tricks to give Herbie a boost of confidence. With her help, Herbie has become an undercover cabbie and bottle sniffer — all while falling for his beautiful therapy client.
