The plot centres around a local street racer who partners with a wealthy and pompous business acquaintance, only to be framed and put to prison by his partner. After his release, he participates in a New York-to-Los Angeles race to exact retribution. When the ex-partner discovers the scheme, he places a big bounty on the racer's head and forces him to complete a cross-country obstacle course of illicit racers in various supercharged cars.
