Violetta, a little girl, and her mother, Hannah, are an unusual couple. 10 year old Violetta lives in a peaceful neighborhood with her grandmother, while her mother Hannah is an uncertain photographer who relies on the goodwill of others to support her family. Violetta's life with her adoring grandmother is turned upside down when Hannah pushes her daughter to serve as a model for a magazine. Consequently, the accompanying photographs immediately become a phenomenon in the fashionable 1970s Paris art scene, and Violetta finds herself torn between her newfound fame as an art muse and her dreary childhood in the city of lights.
