In the midst of the holiday season, York, home to Jules,16, and her father David, is beautifully decked out in preparation for the season's festivities. A lot of the time, David and Jules' connection isn't that dissimilar from the relationship shared by most fathers and their sixteen-year-old daughters. He is unable to communicate with her because she is unable to understand him. He wants to be a part of her life, while she prefers to have her own space. But there is one key way in which David and Jules are connected: the loss of Jules' mother, who also happened to be David's wife, in a car accident two years ago. Jules, motivated by good memories of her mother, decides to take matters into her own hands as they both struggle to cope with everyday life in the aftermath of their loss.
