Lenz daydreams. Charming, visionary, and – as is proper for a thirty-year-old in Berlin – completely incapable of making decisions. Lenz wakes up next to Ira after a wild night of partying. Lenz has fallen in love. Ira, too. The summer of love begins, with nights out in Berlin, beers on the canal, and discussions about sex and childhood. Everything is gorgeous. Until Ira asks the pivotal question: "Do you want to have kids?" When things get complicated, it's time for Lenz to do what he does best. He flees. He stumbles through the summer without an anchor and has to take up with the heroes of his daydreams, who keep questioning him about his emotions. Meanwhile, Lenz's friend Kenn looks at him, puzzled. When autumn arrives, Ira confronts Lenz, and he is forced to confront the big "whatever."
