Clark Davis' (Wes Brown) daring dreams of traveling the world are jeopardized when he and a friend start a fight that damages a local cafe. Clark works off his sentence as a farmhand for the Barlow sisters, Ellen (Julie Mond) and Cassie (Nancy McKeon), after striking a plea deal with the Sheriff (Jere Burns) and café owner Millie (Nancy McKeon) (Abigail Mavity). Ellen, Cassie's older sister, is perplexed by Cassie's friendly demeanor with Clark; she agreed to the Sheriff's offer only because the farm has grown too large for her to manage alone. Clark is gradually winning Ellen over, but a fall causes him to suffer a traumatic head injury. After Ellen has nursed him back to health, her ex-fiancé returns to win her back. Will Clark continue on his journey or stay where love begins?
