An old widower named Giles De'Ath has a strong distaste towards anything modern. When he visits the movies, he falls in love with Ronnie Bostock, a film star. He then tries to find out everything he can about Ronnie and the movie. After that, he flies to Long Island City to visit Ronnie, claiming that Giles admires Ronnie since he is an accomplished actor.
