After the Lord of Darkness makes the decision that none of his three sons will inherit his throne, the two of his sons who are the most powerful flee to Earth in order to establish a kingdom for themselves there. This action causes Satan to wither away and closes the portal that was allowing sinful souls to be filtered into hell. He has no choice but to dispatch his youngest and weakest son, Little Nicky, to Earth in order to bring back his brothers.
