Wolf (Donnie Yen) is a Vietnam War veteran who tells his legendary youth to a young upstart assassin (Edmond Leung). Return to a post-World War II era when the young Wolf (Yen) is lost in the Chinese countryside, searching for his missing memories. He is only aware of the location of a deserted shrine where he is to meet someone. He eventually makes contact with a villager (Dayo Wong), who offers to escort the Wolf to his destination. They meet Wai-Yee (Carmen Lee) along the way, who has been waiting for Wolf for quite some time. However, Wolf retains no memory of his history until the evil people (headed by Ben Lam) come looking for him and bring the Wolf's horrible secret.
