Jefferson in Paris

Due to the tragic death of his wife, Thomas Jefferson takes the position of United States ambassador to pre-revolutionary France. He soon discovers that he is struggling to adjust to life in an environment in which the aristocracy rules over an increasingly restless peasantry. Jefferson falls in love with the scholarly artist Maria Cosway while in Paris; however, when his daughter arrives from Virginia, accompanied by her lovely slave, Sally Hemings, Jefferson's attentions are diverted away from Maria.
