Until she meets Donald Horner, a lonely recluse in Hampstead Village, London's picturesque Hampstead, American widow Emily Walters is content with her quiet existence. There is no better place in the forest for Donald to spend the remainder of his days than his old, run-down hut. To save Donald and his property, Emily sets out to find out why his house is being targeted by developers who will do anything to remove him. Emily is pulled to him, and he is drawn to her, even as the bulldozers press in, and what begins as a charity endeavor turns into a relationship that will deepen even as the bulldozers close in.
