Originally titled "The Return of Godzilla" in Japan in 1984, this is the drastically altered and retitled "Godzilla 1985." By incorporating new footage of Raymond Burr, this sixteenth Godzilla film bypasses all previous sequels and acts as a direct sequel to 1956's "Godzilla King of the Monsters," which also included scenes with Burr edited into 1954's "Godzilla." This film reintroduces the original's darker tone, as we see the nuclear annihilation of a monstrous lizard menacing Japan.
