Gavagai
Carsten Neuer, a German businessman, travels to Norway to complete an impossible translation of certain Norwegian poetry by Tarjei Vesaas into Chinese, a project begun by his late wife and left unfinished. The poet's house and sites of inspiration are visited by him with the help of Niko, a down-on-his-luck tour guide. This serves as inspiration for his own translation. While on the road, Carsten is visited by the ghost of his wife, and Niko must deal with the unexpected repercussions of his girlfriend's pregnancy, both of which occur simultaneously. The adventure takes two very different individuals on a journey where they discover the transformative power of love, the limitations of language, and the universal need for friendship.
