Foreign Land
When Alejandro Reis - Alex - learns that he is not a US citizen, his life takes a dramatic turn for the worst. In his first months, his parents transported him to the United States from Mexico. Florence Hendricks was born in Missouri. She makes the decision to flee her home. In Alex's case, this means being sent to Mexico. For reasons that aren't immediately clear, Flora gets arrested for shoplifting at the same time. Alex was also placed on the same deportation bus. Alex and Flora rapidly discover that they are well out of their depth on Mexican land. Tijuana and most of the border towns are overtaken by dangerous, fighting criminal factions, and they learn this quickly.
