Huey Walker, a former hippy rebel, has been on the run for decades, suspected of a crime that he may or may not have been involved in. Walker is captured and brought to trial by uptight FBI agent John Buckner, who is in his twenties at the time. Despite the fact that the two appear to be diametrically opposed, it turns out that Buckner and Walker have more in common than is originally apparent, a point that is pushed home when the pair comes face to face with a malevolent small town sheriff.
