Nobody will be there to welcome Amador Coro back into society once he serves his time in prison for starting a fire. He moves back in with his elderly mother Benedicta and their three cows, and returns to his hometown, which is a tiny community tucked away in the mountains of rural Galicia. The natural cycle of life is followed by people and they live their lives in peace. That is, until the night, when a fire completely destroys the area.
