Gavin Grey, the outstanding football player from Louisiana, had it everything. The All-American champion married his high school sweetheart, Babs Rogers, and became a hero in his hometown after winning the city's Homecoming Queen award. However, following a disastrous professional career, Gavin comes to the realization that fame and prosperity have passed him by, and that he is no longer the hero that everyone keeps reminding him he should be at this point.
