Eat Drink Man Woman
Taking place in contemporary Taiwan, the film depicts the narrative of Chu (Si Hung Lung), a Chinese master chef who has retired after a long marriage and is now living with his widowed mother. He lives with his three lovely daughters, all of whom are single at the start of the film. As the story progresses, each of the girls comes into contact with a new man in their life. Because of the development of these new relationships, stereotypes are shattered and the living condition inside the family shifts. Several parts in the film demonstrate the methods and artistry of gourmet Chinese cooking, which are demonstrated in a number of situations. Because the members of the family have difficulties expressing their affection for one another, the meticulous preparation of banquet-quality meals for their Sunday dinners serves as a substitute for their familial emotions.
