An apparition of the Virgin Mary arrived in the tranquil village of Caravaggio in 1432, and the artist Michelangelo Merisi used it as inspiration for his terrible yet remarkable paintings of the Virgin Mary that became famous worldwide (better known as Caravaggio). Modern day 2011 finds Lisa, an aspiring art student, Claudia, a seductive Italian translator, and May, a young woman ready to enter the nunnery on a trip to Caravaggio's hometown. As soon as the spirit emerges, everything in their lives is turned upside down, and poor May is tortured by terrifying visions of horrible crimes. Who will survive the dread of the supernatural when murders based on the paintings come to pass and the three ladies are forced to uncover an obscure secret in order to reveal their horrifying fate...
