Doug Russell, played by Leon Isaac Kennedy, is an American who, with the help of two Vietnam War comrades, steals a shipment of gold in the Philippines, before being thrown overboard. Russell comes ashore on an island that has been occupied by two Japanese troops who have been stranded on the island since the end of World War Two. As he recovers from his injuries, he is instructed in martial arts and the art of the samurai. Meanwhile, back in the United States, his nefarious associates, Marelli and Maghee, use their money and ruthlessness to wrest control of the Los Angeles mafia turf.
