Coco Before Chanel

The 2009 film depicts the early years of Coco Chanel's life. Gabrielle Chanel finds herself working in a regional bar several years after leaving an orphanage to which her father never returned. She is a singer and a seamstress for the artists, and the song she sings nightly with her sister earned her the nickname Coco. A relationship with Baron Balsan grants her access to French society and the opportunity to cultivate her talent for design.
