Ruka is a young girl whose parents are divorced and whose father works in an aquarium. Her mother lives in another state. When two boys, Umi and Sora, who were reared in the sea by dugongs are brought to the aquarium, Ruka is pulled to them and begins to realize that she has the same kind of magical connection to the ocean that they do. It would appear that Umi and Sora's unique power is associated with the eerie occurrences that have been taking place with increasing regularity, such as the discovery of sea creatures in locations that are not normally associated with them and the disappearance of animals from aquariums in different parts of the world. Ruka finds herself attracted into exploring the mystery that surrounds her new friends, the lads, because she is curious about the nature of their ability and the weird occurrences.
