Charles, Dead or Alive

He has had enough of his grandfather's watchmaking company, which is celebrating its 100th anniversary this year in Geneva, and he has had enough of it: he speaks eccentrically to a reporter, acknowledging both his grandfather's craftmanship and his son's business acumen, but he is evasive when it comes to his own identity. He gives his family the boot and moves in with a young couple he meets by chance. He helps out with the cooking, reading, drinking, and philosophical debates with them, and they become his friends. Charles becomes a favorite of the young couple. He keeps in touch with a daughter in secret, and the rest of the family employs a private investigator to track him down, setting the wheels in motion for a company takeover that threatens his Bohemian lifestyle and happiness.
