Céline
After the passing of her father, Céline, now 22 years old, receives the most of his inheritance. However, she gives it all to her stepmother, which prompts her avaricious fiance to break off their engagement. Céline is admitted to the hospital after a number of unsuccessful attempts to end her life by suicide. While there, she comes to the attention of Genevieve, a nurse who has also battled depression. Céline makes a slow but steady recovery with her help, and the two ladies develop a strong bond throughout this time.
