Break is an uplifting, rags-to-riches story about overcoming adversity. Spencer Pryde (Sam Gittins) is a bright inner-city child who spends his time wasting his abilities on petty criminality. The film tracks his exploits. Spencer's life appears to be spiraling out of control after witnessing the brutal murder of his friend Denis and becoming indebted to a drug dealing thug named Ginger, until one day, a chance encounter with a Chinese stranger and former eight-ball pool champion named Vincent Quiang (David Yip) presents him with an opportunity to turn his life around. Spencer, on the other hand, will need to break away from the peer pressure of his friends, his environment, and all of the bad forces in his current life before he can start anew.
