With Eurydice's revenge-seeking fiancée Mira behind them, young lovers Orfeu and Eurydice flee through the Rio favelas during Carnaval, dodging hitmen in Death-inspired disguise. The music to this impressionistic rendition of the Greek mythology of Orpheus and Eurydice, composed by young Brazilian composers Luiz Bonfá and Antonio Carlos Jobim, was the first time bossa nova was heard outside of Brazil.
