Beyond the Wasteland
Beyond the Wasteland is a documentary that was filmed in Australia, the United States, Italy, France, Germany, and Japan. It follows Mad Max enthusiasts who travel great distances for their favorite film. As these quirky fans try to fit in with the Mad Max group, the film transports us into the Mad Max universe and allows us to explore the bizarre world of the fans, their costumes, and their equipment. Bertrand Cadart, a member of the original cast, is also followed in the documentary as he makes his final journey from his home on the Sunshine Coast to Silverton's "Wasteland," the desert setting for Mad Max2. Cadart is still battling stage IV leukemia. Beyond the Wasteland not only honors life, but also the power of desire to transform a person.
