When his partner is killed, tough Irish investigator Eddie Ryan (Robert Duvall) vows to retaliate the fatality, whatever the expense. As he begins unwinding hints, his habits becomes so shocking that he's obliged to kip down his badge, but the experience just emboldens him. Ryan eventually discovers that his partner was caught up in a Puerto Rican gun-running plan masterminded by a criminal named Sugary food Willie (Henry Darrow), who intends to raise war of independence.
