Anne of Green Gables

Matthew Cuthbert and his sister Marilla, who live on Prince Edward Island around the turn of the twentieth century, decide to take in an orphan child as agricultural assistance. A rude awakening occurs when they are erroneously sent a girl, Anne Shirley, as a replacement for the intended male recipient. Anne is a romantic with an uncommon point of view, who is diametrically opposed to Marilla's realistic views. It is only when Anne is put on trial that Marilla agrees to keep her.
