A nine-year-old child talks his heart to his best buddy after a great summer together. The boy and girl bury a time capsule of keepsakes with the help of a devoted golden retriever, then go their separate ways. Years later, a man and a woman, both looking for a fresh start, return to the area where they felt most at ease as children. However, a comic instance of mistaken identity sees them competing for the same childhood memories, resulting in Christmas shenanigans. They must find their common past before they entirely flip each other's life upside-down for the sake of their happiness. Is it possible for a golden dog to guide them back to their home?
