A Different Loyalty

In January 1963, Leo Cauffield, a British journalist based in Beirut, vanishes without a trace from his home. The fact that he was working part-time for British intelligence was known to his wife Sally, but she was not prepared to be informed by the British embassy that he was suspected of having defected to communist Russia. He is a former chief of MI6's counterespionage branch, and his wife's dogged pursuit for the truth takes her from London to New York, and then to Moscow to piece together the jigsaw puzzle of the past.
