In Arizona in the late 1800s, the Southern Railroad has been tormented by the notorious criminal Ben Wade and his gang of thieves and killers. When Wade is apprehended, Civil War veteran Dan Evans, who is trying to survive on his drought-ravaged ranch, volunteers to deliver him alive to the "3:10 to Yuma" train, which will transport the murderer to trial.
