The American television series UFO Hunters began on The History Channel on January 30, 2008, was produced by Motion Picture Production Inc., and ran for three seasons. After a bidding war between History Channel and Sci-Fi Channel for the show's rights, the show's Executive Producer, Jon Alon Walz, was responsible for selling the series to History Channel. The show's premise was tested in a portion of the History Channel's 2006 UFO special "Deep Sea UFOs," produced by Motion Picture Production Inc and starring two of the show's final four cast members. "UFO Hunters" was not a continuation of the 2005 History Channel episode of the same name. Hoax or History? is the show's tagline. The series should not be confused with UFO Hunters, a Sci-Fi Channel special with a similar premise and title that premiered on the same day and time as Ghost Hunters but ran only a single episode. History Channel only released the first two seasons on DVD in the United States in the right airdate order. However, the format was only made available in full screen rather than wide screen. However, the episodes were released in the wrong airdate sequence.
