The Vice is a police drama on ITV about the Vice Unit of the Metropolitan Police. From 1999 to 2003, there were five short seasons. It tells the story of the vice squad of the London Metropolitan Police, where prostitution, underage sex, and other types of organized crime are common. Most episodes end with the main villain being caught, but not in a way that would be "natural" in other TV dramas. Often, more questions are left unanswered than answered at the end of an episode. Detective Inspector Pat Chappel is in charge of the small, dedicated team. Like the rest of the team, he has trouble balancing his home life and work life. Working in the seedy underworld puts the team in a tough spot all the time. The tension between the Vice Squad and the vice-related crimes they investigate keeps the show interesting to watch. The show often makes it hard to tell if the team is staying on the right side of the law because almost every member of the team gives in for a short time or for good to sex, drugs, money, or "honey traps."
