'The Slap' is an Australian television drama series. From October 6 to November24,2011, ABC1 aired it. It is based on the multi-award winning novel The Slap, by Australian author Christos Tsiolkas, which investigates the consequences of slapping a child during a suburban BBQ. Ayres, Bowden, and McMahon of Matchbox Pictures produced the series, with Penny Chapman serving as executive producer, which was shot in Melbourne, Victoria. Tony Ayres and Robert Connolly each directed two episodes, as did Jessica Hobbs (who directed both) and Matthew Saville (who directed both). Emily Ballou, Alice Bell, Brendan Cowell, Kris Mrksa, and Cate Shortland were on the writing team.
