The Odyssey is an Emmy Award-winning and Golden Globe-nominated fantasy-adventure television miniseries from 1997. The miniseries, directed by Andrei Konchalovsky, debuted on NBC in two parts on May18, 1997. Awarded for "Outstanding Directing for a Miniseries or Special" The series is based on The Odyssey, an ancient Greek epic poem generally credited to Homer. It was filmed in Malta, Turkey, and many other Mediterranean locations, as well as sections of England, where the plot takes place. Armand Assante, Greta Scacchi, Irene Pappas, Isabella Rossellini, Bernadette Peters, Christopher Lee, and Vanessa L. Williams comprise the international all-star cast.
