It ran for two seasons, from June9, 2000 to February1,2002, and was somewhat more successful than earlier television series portraying invisible secret operatives. The story follows Darien Fawkes, a thief facing life in prison who is recruited by a low-rent spy organization and granted the power of invisibility through the implantation of a unique "Quicksilver gland" in his head. Fawkes can ooze "Quicksilver," a light-bending material, from his pores and follicles thanks to this gland. The chemical coats his skin, hair, nails, and clothing swiftly, making him invisible. He has the ability to consciously release Quicksilver, which eventually flakes off and disintegrates. Scientist Arnaud DeFehrn destroyed the Quicksilver gland during its development, causing it to secrete a neurotoxic that accumulates in the bloodstream and causes extreme pain, as well as antisocial behavior and psychosis.
