The Games
The Games was an Australian mockumentary series on the Sydney 2000 Summer Olympics. The series initially aired on ABC and consisted of two 13-episode seasons, the first in 1998 and the second in 2000. The cast of 'The Games' included satirists John Clarke and Bryan Dawe, comic Gina Riley from Australia, and actor Nicholas Bell. John Clarke and Ross Stevenson authored it. The series satirized corruption and favoritism in the Olympic movement, bureaucratic incompetence in the New South Wales public sector, and unethical behavior in politics and the media. To create the appearance of a documentary on the Sydney Games, it was a peculiar aspect of the production that the characters had the same names as the actors who played them.
