Within the DGSE (General Directorate for External Security), the Office of Legends (BDL) trains and pilots clandestine agents. Their job, while immersed in a hazardous environment, is to discover individuals who could be recruited as sources of information. They live in a perpetual duplicity for many years, operating "under caption," that is, in a created persona from the ground up. Our hero has recently returned from a six-year covert operation in Damascus. But, contrary to safety regulations, he refuses to give up his mythology and the identity under which he lived in Syria, putting the entire system in jeopardy.
