Shipping Wars is a reality show on A&E that began airing on January 10, 2012. The show follows six independent carriers who have found that they can make a lot of money transporting things that traditional carriers either can't or won't haul. uShip, the largest online auction house for independent truckers, is also in the series. In Season 1, the featured carriers are Marc Springer, Roy Garber, Jennifer Brennan, Jarrett Joyce, and Suzanne and Scott Bawcom. The Bawcoms are replaced by Christopher Hanna and Robbie Welsh in Season 2. On December12,2012, Season 3 started. In Season4, Johnny Chavez and Chelsea Grant and Courtney Aguilera form a new couple. In a typical episode, the carriers bid on two jobs that have been posted on uShip. This is called a reverse auction. Each client can choose to give the job to the lowest bidder or to a higher bidder based on what other clients have said about them. In a tie, the carrier with the highest average feedback rating wins. Winners load their cargo and try to get it to the client on time and in good condition. As the loads are delivered, ratings from clients are shown. At the end of the episode, each carrier's net profit or loss is shown on-screen. The expenses are subtracted from the bid amount to find the overall profit or loss. A carrier will sometimes make plans to haul one or more extra loads on the same trip and add the extra money to his/her total.
